University admission in Turkey
How admission works, entrance exams, intakes and timelines.
Study in Turkey
Our team in Jalalabad helps Afghan students choose Turkish universities, prepare and submit applications, follow up on offer letters and organise the student visa file, with personal guidance at every stage.
Checked against official sources on 19 October 2026. Requirements, fees and dates change and can differ by university, embassy or consulate. Always confirm the current rules with the official source before you apply — we do this for every student we work with.
In short: Afghan students can study at Turkish state or foundation universities, in English or Turkish. You apply directly to each university, then apply for a student visa at a Turkish embassy or consulate with your acceptance letter. After you arrive, you register at the university and apply for a residence permit. Our Jalalabad team helps with every step.
Turkish universities are overseen by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). Degrees follow the European pattern of bachelor's, master's and doctoral (PhD) degrees. There are state universities and foundation universities (non-profit private universities). Many of them accept students from other countries directly, through their own application process.
Most bachelor's programmes take four years; some professional fields take longer, for example medicine, which takes six years. Master's programmes are offered with a thesis (research-focused) or without a thesis (coursework-focused). Entry requirements are set by each university and often differ between programmes at the same university. See our guides to bachelor's, master's and PhD admission.
Many universities teach some programmes fully or partly in English, and others in Turkish. If your language level is not high enough, you often start with a preparatory (prep) year of English or Turkish. Check the teaching language carefully: it changes your timeline, your total cost and the documents you need.
State universities are public; foundation universities are set up by non-profit foundations. They differ in how fees are set, in their application dates and often in how many programmes they teach in English. Neither is always "better". The right choice depends on your programme, budget and grades. Read how to choose a Turkish university.
Fees for international students vary by university type, faculty, programme and language of instruction. They are published by each university and change from year to year. We always work from the university's current official fee schedule. Read how tuition fees work in Türkiye.
The government-funded Türkiye Scholarships (Türkiye Bursları) programme is open to international applicants, and many universities offer tuition discounts based on academic results. Competition for full scholarships is strong, so plan your application early. See scholarships for Afghan students.
Students live in university or private dormitories, or in shared flats, and costs change a lot from city to city. After you arrive, you must register at your university and apply for a student residence permit. We explain these steps to every student before they travel.
As a Turkey education consultancy in Afghanistan, based in Jalalabad since 2018, we support Afghan students through the whole process, step by step:
Matching universities to your goals, grades and budget.
Comparing programmes, language of instruction and career fit.
Checking your documents against each programme's published requirements.
A personal checklist, translation and legalisation guidance, and a review of every document.
Preparing and submitting applications through the official channels.
Tracking results and explaining any conditions in your offer.
Explaining the university's official payment instructions and deadlines. You always pay the university directly through its published channels.
Making sure you receive the acceptance letter needed for the visa.
Building a complete, consistent student visa file.
Pre-application, appointment preparation and a final file check.
Practice for a visa or university interview, when one is required.
Registration, residence permit, health insurance and arrival planning.
We help with university admission and with preparing your visa application. Student visas are decided by the Turkish authorities, at the embassy or consulate where you apply, and universities make their own admission decisions. We never promise guaranteed admission or visa approval, and you should be cautious of anyone who does.

No. Visa decisions are made solely by the Turkish authorities. We help you prepare a complete and accurate application.
